Police Invesitgate Incident at Tank and Tummy in Lamar

A manhunt that began Wednesday night in Lamar continues today as local law officials continue their search for the suspect

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE LAMAR POLICE DEPARTMENT January 9, 2014 10:30am

On January 8, 2014 at approximately 8:15 P.M. an officer from the Lamar Police Department contacted a vehicle in the 1400 block of South Main Street.  The officer attempted to arrest the driver.  The driver resisted and assaulted the officer.  Shots were fired by the officer during the encounter.  No one was injured due to gun fire.  The suspect fled the scene and eluded capture.  The officer was transported to Prowers Medical Center where he was released after receiving treatment for his injuries.

The name of the officer involved and the name of the suspect are not being released at this time.  Further details will be released after the investigation has concluded.
