Loves closes as police batten down the hatches.

The umbrella over the gas tanks at Loves Country Store sustained serious damage during the recent strong winds and the store was closed down.  The store reopened, but the gas pumps are closed.

Highway 287 closed because of poor visability from Wind and Dust

There is ZERO visibility on highway 287 and it is closed. Mail trucks will not be leaving tonight. The Baca County Sheriff asks that people do not take any of the dirt roads back to the Highway a few miles down the road.  The roads are closed for a reason.   It is not safe […]

Heavy rains cause Pueblo State Park to close through weekend

The Rock Canyon Day-Use Area swim beach at Lake Pueblo State Park will be closed through the weekend due to heavy rains and flooding. The rain storm in the Pueblo area on Wednesday caused flooding, standing water and water drainage issues which have resulted in the need for closure of the Rock Canyon Swim Beach until further notice.

Two Buttes Lake has 14 feet of Water!

We have had such a drought and it has been a while since Two Buttes Lake has had water. Just a few weeks ago I was there and I took some pictures of Black Hole from the cliff side and some pictures of the mountain from both sides. There was no water in the lake then. It just looked like a swamp full of green swamp grass.
