Mearl A. Guthrie
1940-2009
Mearle A. Guthrie passed away April 11, 2009, in Pampa, Texas. He was 68. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Carl Hamilton and Matt Hill officiating.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Mearle was born June 30, 1940 in Andrix, Colorado. He graduated from Kim High School in Kim, Colorado. Mearl was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He and Frances Patterson were married on June 9, 1967, in Clayton, New Mexico.
They have lived in the Pampa area since 1978. Mearle worked as an engineering technician for Energas for 27 years, retiring in 1995. After retiring from Energas, he worked for Bob Douthit Wrecker Service until his death. He enjoyed working on and tinkering with his car collection.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Frances Guthrie of the home; a son, James Guthrie and wife, Kelli of Fairplay, Colorado; a sister, Bertha Bradford of Leadville, Colorado; a brother, Les Guthrie and wife, Mary of Pritchett, Colorado; a granddaughter, Codi Guthrie of Fairplay, Colorado and a grandson, Khale Guthrie of Fairplay.
He also has numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mearle was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Guthrie; three brothers, Earl, Ezra and Raymond; and his parents, Levi and Eva Guthrie. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Gerry Caylor, 2130 Charles, Pampa, Texas 79065.
